This year’s edition of the Michelin guide to Istria was expanded to include top wineries and olive oil producers
As reported by Glas Istre on May 16, 2018, Michelin released the 2018 edition of their special guide to Istria. Comprehensive but practical and easy to use, the publication is composed of two parts: the renowned Michelin Red Guide and a green travel guide, both available in English and German.
It’s a special printed edition usually associated with notable gourmet destinations such as Paris, Barcelona and Trentino Alto Adige. They are featured in national guides as well, but owing to their specific traits and their significance as gastronomic destinations, such special editions present a quality method of promotion of certain cities and regions.
This is to say that Michelin recognises Istria as a well-managed tourism region with a gastronomic offer that makes for its principal asset. Denis Ivošević, the director of Istria Tourist Board, said it was really nice to see Istria’s name printed on one of Michelin’s famous red editions. This year, two destinations got Michelin’s seal of approval for the first time – the restaurants Badi and Konoba Buščina in Umag. All other hospitality objects that were included in the first edition are again making an appearance, including Monte restaurant which boasts a Michelin Star for the second year in a row. As stated by Ivošević, Monte is now a gourmet destination that can very well represent Istria as a whole.
