ZAGREB, May 28, 2018 – President Kolinda Grabar-Kitarović on Monday sent a written recommendation to Prime Minister Andrej Plenković that a special cabinet meeting be convened on the subject of demographic policy and problems of citizens with blocked bank accounts, adding that the special meeting would also focus on her proposals regarding the two issues, the Nova TV commercial television reported.
In a written recommendation sent to the prime minister, the president also suggested dates for the special cabinet meeting – June 11 and 12, or June 18, 19 and 20, according to Nova TV.
“By holding the joint session, we would show the necessary responsibility, given that the time for a comprehensive solution to the said problems is running out,” Grabar-Kitarović said in memo she sent to Plenković.
After a session of the National Security Council, held earlier on Monday, Grabar-Kitarović announced that she would send a written recommendation that a special cabinet meeting be convened on the subject of demographic policy. “I would like us to create a synergy because I believe that demography is an issue the requires state consensus as a basis for strong development policies,”
Government sources confirmed for Hina that the written recommendation from the president has arrived in Government House, but that due to numerous commitments, the prime minister had not had a chance to see it yet.
