Šibenik is preparing for the 58th MDF!

As SibenikIN writes on the 10th of June, 2018, on the square in front of the cathedral last night, preparations began for the 58th International Children’s Festival on the summer stage, the opening ceremony of which will be held next Saturday with the performance of ”Eggs”, the work of the the Zorin Dom Theatre from Karlovac.

In addition to theatrical performances from domestic theatres and groups such as from the Dubrava Children’s Theatre, the festival will well and truly live up to its international reputation and name once again.

The Spaniards will arrive at this year’s festival in the form of the Zero en Conducta Company from Barcelona, which will perform “Allegro ma non troppo” in the theatre on the 19th of June at 19:00, the performance is a visual play that uses dolls, objects and body movements to tell us the story of a crazy creature who blindly travels through life giving chances to others without knowing to whom he’s giving them. The Belgians will also be present at the festival, featuring ”Doffice”, which is intended for all ages, the Koreans will present their version of Vivaldi’s’ famous piece ”Four Seasons”, and the Italians will showcase their ”Rags opera”.

On June the 19th on the summer stage at 21:00, SNG Gorica is set to arrive, the Leipzig dance theatre will perform ”Zagrljaj” on June the 22nd, and on June the 26th, the Belgrade Pinocchio Theater from Serbia will take to the stage with a performance for the youngest festival attendees – ”Baroni di Macaroni”. The Sarajevo National Theater will also perform its version of the classic ”Alice in Wonderland” on June the 29th.

Some of the world’s best street artists will present their interesting programs each and every day, and as usual, children will also be able to participate in various workshops. Along with well-known journalism workshops, there are also painting and ceramics workshops, ecological-art workshops, architectural workshops, and children will have the opportunity to learn to play on real, authentic African drums. There will of course also be traditional film evenings on Gorica, with daily screenings of numerous top film hits on offer.
