The 10th Hvar Lavender Festival will take place next weekend, starting on June 28, 2018.
Time really does fly. It seems like only last week that some enterprising locals associated with a small inland Hvar village called Velo Grablje decided to take the village’s destiny into their own hands.
Once the centre of lavender production for all Dalmatia, Velo Grablje had hit hard times, with a full-time population of just five. A group of young locals formed an NGO called Pjover, whose aims were to restore the village’s traditions and heritage, with its lavender history a key theme. An ambitious idea to hold a lavender festival was attempted, and so began the 10-year story of Croatia’s most aromatic festival.
The Velo Grablje Lavender Festival celebrates its tenth year next week – full programme below.
