ZAGREB, July 10, 2018 – Croatian Parliament Deputy Speaker Milijan Brkić, who visited Jerusalem for a conference which the Knesset organised for chairs of parliamentary groups of friendship with Israel, has announced a gathering of the American Israel Public Affairs Committee (AIPAC), to be held in the Croatian city of Dubrovnik this autumn, according to a press release issued by the Croatian parliament on Tuesday.
AIPAC is a lobbying group that advocates for pro-Israel policies before Congress and the executive branch of the United States.
The conference in Jerusalem focused on parliamentary cooperation in the fields of agriculture and water management, public healthcare and the development of multicultural society as well as the fight against terrorism.
Brkić was quoted as saying that, in the context of anti-terror drive, it is particularly important to deepen operational and technical cooperation with Israel “as one of the countries with the most developed anti-terrorist capacities”.
The risk of terrorism is one of the most serious security challenges for the whole international community and present-day societies and it is our priority task to provide and maintain security for our citizens, he said.
