Good news for Supetar!
As Morski writes on the 22nd of August, 2018, following a five-month break back, an open call for a women’s employment program, which is being implemented under an operational program, has been re-opened once again. Due to the extremely significant interest from the Ministry of Labour, financial allocations soared from an already handsome 400.9 million kuna to an enormous 1 billion kuna.
This is the largest tender within the European social fund, for the social inclusion and integration of vulnerable groups on the Croatian labour market, which will enable 5,000 to 6,000 women from across the country to work in the field of care for older citizens, according to Pokret otoka (Island movement).
The ”wishes” of this women’s employment program are in line with both European and national recommendations on the improving of the position of women on the Croatian labour market, thus going hand in hand with further protecting women’s rights in general, with a special focus on the promoting of social inclusion and combating poverty, the Ministry of Labor stated.
The projects last for 30 months and the minimum amount of grants per project can be as much as 900,000 kuna, with the maximum having been set at ten million kuna.
Local and regional self-government units, as well as numerous non-profit organisations and their partners are able to make their applications to the tender. Acceptable activities are employment, education, and training of women, this includes the provision of material conditions for the implementation of the aforementioned activities. For each woman, 7,000 kuna was provided for education so that after the program implementation they would be more competitive on the labour market.
Supetar has now received information about the project’s passing. Supetar has been provided with 1,069 million kuna for the “Zaželi” project, which will employ six women in disadvantaged positions in the town of Supetar, with the fundamental goal of combating poverty and reducing the unemployment rate, as well preventing premature institutionalisation and improving the quality of life of elderly, disadvantaged or otherwise disabled people from the area of Supetar.
”The purpose of this project is to train and employ six women from target groups through a training program for care-workers (in gerontology) for two months, with employment within a period of 24 months. The aforementioned jobs would include home help for 28 households, for which would include assistance in feeding and clothing, talking, maintaining living spaces, through meeting the goals of promoting social inclusion, enhancing the quality of life and preventing the pre-institutionalisation of the project beneficiaries. The total value of its application is 1,069,916.65 kuna,” said Supetar’s mayor Ivana Marković.
