The 3LHD-designed Hotel LN Garden has been officially opened in China. The hotel has an area of 61,068 square metres, with a total of 365 rooms, and is part of the Nansha Seaside Park at the mouth of the Pearl River in the Chinese city of Guangzhou, reports Večernji List on August 28, 2018.
Its volume and large surfaces are visually embedded in the surrounding nature. The hotel is categorized as “platinum five stars.” According to Chinese categorization rules, such hotels have a much higher standard than regular five-star hotels.
The construction of the luxury hotel took three and a half years. The first query arrived at 3LHD’s e-mail address in December 2013. After initial meetings and internet communication, the first visit to the site followed and the project was started. The hotel is located at the mouth of the Pearl River, in the centre of the largest agglomeration in the world which includes a megalopolis with more than 60 million inhabitants.
The main public area of the hotel has a view of the bay, while on the eastern side it overlooks the Seaside Park. It is dominated by two vertical lobbies and a large water surface. The project was realized together with the Croatian artist Ivana Franko, the author of two art installations set up in the hotel’s main lobby. Representatives from the Chinese companies Guangzhou Urban and Design Institute and Citygroup elaborated the project details and coordinated works on the site, in co-operation with 3LHD.
The investor is Lingnan Group, a major company whose primary activity is hotel industry and tourism. It owns more than 60 hotels and hotel chains all over China. Their other business interests include the food industry, logistics, retail chains and transportation services.
Considering the importance of this successful Croatian-Chinese cooperation for the potential of expanding Croatian companies’ activities in the Chinese market, as well as the support of Croatian diplomacy in Beijing and Zagreb, the inauguration ceremony was attended by Ambassador of Croatia to Beijing Nebojša Koharović. In addition to the representatives of investors and senior officials from China, members of the 3LHD team, Ivana Franko and numerous Chinese media representatives were also in attendance.
