Continuing our series looking at some of the beaches of Hvar in pictures, this week we travel through the pine trees near Vrboska, near Soline.
One of the most popular beaches on the island of Hvar is Soline, near Vrbsoka. It is a wonderful combination of child-friendly small pebble beach, wonderful nature surrounded by pine trees, restaurant, bar and sporting facilities, and of course, that trademark pristine water. It is a very romantic spot, and it is very much in use out of season as people walk along the empty beach in contemplation, throwing stones into the sea.
Soline is about the summer, however, and it can be accessed on foot from Vrboska town – about a 1km walk through the pine trees – or by car. There is ample parking in the aromatic pine forests just before the beach.
There is a restaurant with a bar at the back of the beach, affording tourists options for spending the whole day at Soline, which many do. To reach Soline, take the turning to Vrboska from the main road and, rather than then turning right into the town through the new side, continue on for a kilometre until you reach the pine forest and parking. On the other side of the peninsula, hidden away and very secluded, is the naturist campsite and beach, which is probably the most popular naturist spot on the island. The two beaches are very separate.
