The video game is one of the best-selling Croatian software projects ever.
Croatian developers Gamepires, creators of the popular video game SCUM, have proudly confirmed excellent sales results and decided to further expand their development team, reports tportal.hr on September 21, 2018.
Despite being in the early stages of development, Gamepires’ online survival game SCUM has reached the threshold of one million copies sold, making it one of the best-selling Croatian video games in history. And that is not all; the game is so popular that it currently has the status of the best-selling game sold by American publisher Devolver Digital (which does not miss a chance to praise the young Croatian team).
Devolver has selected SCUM primarily because it is a unique and interesting game. In SCUM, the players are prisoners on an island whose only job is to eliminate other prisoners and in that way entertain viewers of a cruel reality show.
The game was announced for the first time in September 2016 and its launch was postponed several times during development. About three weeks ago, it was finally released as part of the Steam’s Early Access programme. In recent days, the developers are trying to find a right balance between the increased scope of work, fighting against trolls in comments on Steam, and fixing some of the bugs.
To celebrate the threshold of one million copies sold, Gamepires has added an exclusive new item to SCUM: Golden DEagle .50 gun, which players can find during the game. Golden DEagle .50 will be available for use until 25 September.
Players who supported the game by the Supporter Pack will also receive a small Nice Watch, an item which currently tells players the time within the game, but will soon receive some additional functions.
In addition to creating new items and celebrating impressive sales results, the team is currently also involved with the recruitment of new employees. Given that the game has a very large audience, Gamepires is striving to fix all the mistakes and continue to develop the game further. Therefore, they are looking for level designers, as well as developers who use C ++ programming language.
More information about open positions can be found on the official Facebook page of Gamepires.
