ZAGREB, October 1, 2018 – Croatia’s retail companies earned 35 billion kuna in revenues in 2017, which was 3.2% more than in 2016, and Konzum remains at the top of the ranking in the retail sector, the Croatian Competition Agency (CCA) says.
A survey conducted by the AZTN regulator among 48 retail companies has found that they generated 35 billion kuna last year. As many as 39 of them wrapped up 2017 in the black, whereas eight saw a decline in their business.
The ranking is topped by Konzum, which holds a 20%-30% share of the market. It is followed by Lidl, Plodine and Kaufland, with market shares of between 10% and 20%.
Spar and Tommy rank the fifth and sixth respectively, controlling between 5% and 10% of the market. The other companies among the top ten are Studenac, K.T.T., NTL and Lonia, with market shares of below 5%.
