Stari Grad Restaurant Week opens today. Some great menus for just 100 kuna.
Stari Grad is the place to be this week if you are a foodie. Many of the town’s restaurants are participating in promoting the island’s gastronomic scene, with some set menus with a glass of wine for 100 kuna. The promotion will continue until June 30.
One place you should find time to visit is the delightful Jurin Podrum, where Edward and Mrs Simpson dined in days gone by. Every time I chat with owner Silvija, I feel healthier. She has a very organic approach to life, and it is reflected in the high quality of her food. Using the freshest ingredients, she has come up with a fabulous menu, and oe to try for the next two weeks only is her fennel soup.

It is such a relaxed place to eat and hang out in general, and Silvija is also offering the chance to eat with the staff and family – a daily special for 30-40 kuna which consists of the food that they are eating themselves. A really nice idea and totally separate from the festival. Here is a taster of what you can find this week:
Monday – pork pasticada
Tuesday – veal goulasch
Wednesday – spaghetti bolognese
