It is sometimes hard to leave your beloved pets at home just because you cannot take them with you when using public transport. Since Dubrovnik is known as a hilly area and a city of uncountable stairs which are difficult to walk up even for people in good health, walking pets does not always seem like an easy task to do. Hence it comes as a relief to know that it is possible for users of the public transport to take their dogs or other pets on board. If your pet is not a Bengal tiger or a giant pig, of course.
However, there are some rules that to need to be obeyed: pets are allowed on public transport only if they are carried in carriers or baskets in order to avoid any unpleasant incidents or accidents.
As Di Ceglie, Director of the public transport company Libertas, says, this enables older passengers to carry their pets and take them to the vet when they are unable to find alternative transport.
In addition, drivers may request the removal of the animal if it creates a hazard or disturbance. Watch out for your dog’s paws!
