Described as an ethno alternative band, Kries is to perform this Sunday, April 16, at much-loved Slavica Summer Cinema. Kries brand that consists of vocal Mojmir Novakovic, lijerica instrument player Ivo Letunic, bagpipes / diple / kaval / flute player Andor Vegh, percussions Kresimir Oreski, guitar Erol Zejnilovic, bass Konrad Lovrencic and drums Ivan Levacic, is praised for its excellent traditional music with a touch of contemporaneity. The band gathers at one place all the music aficionados and like-minded people with an unusual approach to the creative process of producing music. The nameo of the band, Kries, derives from the archaic form of Croatian language for bonfire that for the band members is a symbol of gathering, warmth and light: «Most of the lyrics and some lead melodies Kries uses are traditional from this area. We are not trying to ‘preserve’ or ‘save’ them – there are people who do that and ways to do that, better than ours. We just enjoy their symbolism, words, tunes… We just like the feelings they invoke.»
The concert starts at 8 p.m., on Sunday, April 16. Entrance is free of charge.
This concert has been organized by Marin Držić Theater and Cinematographers Dubrovnik with a financial support by Dubrovnik Tourist Board.
