Who made people laugh in the 16th/century Dubrovnik? Marin Drzic Vidra, known as the “king of laughter”, is one of the most famous Croatian Renaissance authors whose writings opposed the style of his Dubrovnik peers who praised the exalted style of writing.
Drzic was a priest, a comedian, a rebel whose satirical and ironical remarks of his time and human nature granted him the status of one of the world’s greatest playwrights whose works are often staged during the famous Dubrovnik Summer Festival and in nearby Marin Drzic Theatre.
House of Marin Drzic provides an interesting audiovisual presentation of his works and life. Institution’s team led by enthusiastic director Niksa Matic is often praised for the very rich program offering workshops, tours, theater and art shows for both local and international audience.
