When you make your way west from Korčula on the northern side of the island, after a couple of kilometers you will reach two bays with interesting swimming possibilities: the first one is Žrnovska banja, and the second one is Vrbovica. Žrnovska banja, while very interesting for the nautical tourists, does not offer a beachgoer as much as Vrbovica.
Vrbovica is an almost T-shaped bay, with two coves to the west and the east, and several nice and pebbly streches of the coastline, perfect for a beach stay. On the side of the Vrbovica bay that is closer to Korčula there is a camping site Kamp Vrbovica , right next to a lovely beach, which makes it a perfect place for a family vacation.
Since the bay is so wide, it offers options for those wanting to spend some time swimming there: there are sections with pebbles that are more or less in the shade, so you can choose if you want to be in the sun or not. There are several rocky parts of the bay (especially closer to the exits from the bay itself) where you can find a spot for yourself away from the crowds of the beach, again, both in the shade and in the sun on the rocks.
In the camp there is a restaurant, and there is another restaurant on the other side of the bay, so you can get a lunch or a drink very close to the beach itself. The bay is very close to the road which connects Korčula and Račišće, so it’s no problem at all reaching the beach, although during high season finding a parking spot might be a problem (take a bit of advice from me: try searching for parking on the eastern side of the bay, away from the camping site).
