Korčula Port Authority Warns, Welcomes Nautical Tourists

Total Croatia News

In the past two days, Korčula Port Authority has been very actively communicating with the public.

First yesterday, on July 2nd, they sent out a release in which they ask captains on board the yachts, tour-guides and agencies bringing nautical tourists to the Korčula Town to respect the Rules of the behaviour for those aboard the boats docked at any of the shores in Korčula. In the past years, they say, the rules were mostly followed, and they had no problems with those tourists.

This year, however, in the past 10 or so days, the passengers from those boats have been seen destroying the private and the municipal property in Korčula Town, which has lead to a lot of revolt by the people of Korčula, as well as the mayor Andrija Fabris. So, the Port Authority has warned those arriving to Korčula that such behaviors will not be tolerated, that the police will be called if such incidents continue, and as the last resort, that they have the authority to ban the boat from docking in Korčula, and that they will do so if it is determined that the passengers from a certain boat have been involved in destroying either private or municipal property. The mayor has been informed and agrees with this warning, which is to be taken seriously.

On a more positive note, Port Authority published some photos on their Facebook page, bragging about how the nautical tourism season has started in earnest in Korčula town, showing beautiful boats and yachts docked at the shores, including the rows of 7 boats docked next to one another on the eastern shore.
