“The Perseid meteor shower is perhaps the most beloved meteor shower of the year for the Northern Hemisphere. Fortunately, the slender waning crescent moon rising at or near dawn will not obtrude on this year’s shower. The Perseid shower builds gradually to a peak, often produces 50 to 100 meteors per hour in a dark sky at the peak, and, for us in the Northern Hemisphere, this shower comes when the weather is warm.
We just need to find a place far from the city lights to be able to experience the shooting stars in all their glory. This should not be such a problem on Hvar, where there are many little beaches and hidden bays close by with a perfect set up – no public lights at all. But what about Split? Is there a place to go, where the city lights won‘t reach you?
It turns out, there is a perfect solution – sailing out to the open sea!! You could take this great evening or early morning tour with Sugaman to enjoy the beautiful night sky show.
Evening tour on August 12 leaves Split at 22:30 for an hour and a half long sail. Apart from the amazing night panoramas of the Diocletian Palace and the shooting stars, you will be served Dalmatian finger food paired with Croatian sparking wine.
And for those, who would like to experience the shower in its full strength, there is a Morning tour on August 13, leaving Split at 00:30. Well, that could work out great after going out to the city for some dinner or drinks and then jump on board for this hour and half long sail with some cakes, croissants, tea and coffee served by the crew.
