On Saturday 21st October 2017, local designer Katarina Popović opened the doors to her designer store “Karin”, another fantastic addition to the Split fashion scene.
There is nothing we love better than supporting locals in their passion and projects. We believe Split is overflowing with talent and would be happy to see more local businesses popping up (rather than cheap souvenirs and ‘tourist-traps’), which is why we are thrilled to see another young, local designer launch her own store in the heart of Split (just 10-minutes’ walk from Grad).
Earlier in the year, we went to the launch of Anamarija Asanović’s boutique store which was supported by the Split fashionistas and her peers and Katarina’s launch was no different; in attendance was singer Ana Opačak, designer duo Arileo, designers Anamarija Asanović, Gorana Milaković, Monika Sablić, their colleague Ivan Ledenko, Neda Makjanić and many more…

Katarina told Dalmatinski Portal: “Our little Split Fashion scene is a community, we support each other, a lack of free time prevents us from getting together more often, that is why such events are an ideal opportunity to gather and socialise. I am happy that they have come to support me because we have a healthy competition amongst each other and that’s the best.”

“We have mostly exhibited a fun assortment… I like to pay attention to the details and carrying pieces of clothing on which our signature is visible. I prefer simple and timeless pieces.”
Besides Karin’s collection, she offers clients the opportunity for custom-made designs according to their wishes.
“My ideal clients are those who know what they want and are not uniformed. I love when the client leaves it in my hands because I know I’ll do the best for them. Copying other styles is not good, especially when you are making yourself a unique piece.”
