Watch your Wallets these Days – Pickpocketing in Split

It might happen in most big cities with thriving tourism industry and it is happening in Split too these days. According to Slobodna Dalmacija, 3 wallets were reported stolen yesterday on various locations in the centre (Riva, Old Pazar and Peristil) and apart from stolen documents, the total value of 12.000 Kn is missing from personal budgets of one Croatian, one Belgian and one Spanish citizen.

As this unpleasant experience is something you want to avoid when visiting Split, the police is recommending to always have your bag, rucksack or handbag closed and in sight. When possible do not carry larger amounts of money with you, make sure your valuable things (wallet, mobile phone, etc.) are not in your back pockets and be aware in crowded places.
