A tragic accident at Resnik near Split Airport yesterday, as a light Lake Buccaneer plane crashed, killing two of the three people on board, with the third seriously injured.
The plane was on a pilot training flight when the tragedy occurred. The four-seater plane was owned by European Coastal Airlines (but was not part of its commercial fleet), and the airline released a statement a few hours ago, which you can read below in Croatian. The statement confirms that the crash happened about 17:40 last night with three pilots on board, two of whom were killed and the third is in serious condition in hospital in Split.
ECA will do all it can to find out what went wrong and share those findings, and it offers its condolences to friends and families of the victims of the tragedy, adding that their prayers are with their colleagues. Sentiments echoed by the team here at Total Split.
A terrible tragedy, and we will bring you more on this story as we have it.
