Six ambassadors to Croatia spent the day at Zagreb Zoo yesterday, April 26, learning about photography and taking photos of animals as part of the Ambassadors for Biodiversity project organised by photographer Damir Hoyka.
Ambassadors Mr. Philippe Benoit (Kingdom of Belgium), Mr. Andrew Stuart Dalgleish (UK) Ms. Tanya Dimitrova (Republic of Bulgaria), Mr. Juan Luis Nilo Valledor, (Republic of Chile), Mr. Maciej Grzegorz Szymański (Poland) and Stavros Tsiepas, (the Hellenic Republic) gathered at the ZOO for this occasion.
Famous Croatian photographer Damir Hoyka organised the seminar called Fotosofia 4 during which ambassadors were given lessons in photographic theory and a guided tour while taking photos of animals.
“We would like to thank the ambassadors for participating in this project of promoting biodiversity conservation. We want to raise awareness among citizens of the value of flora and fauna in their immediate proximity and the overall biodiversity of our planet. We hope that putting focus on animals and nature in this series will encourage more citizens to protect nature,” Zagreb Zoo Director Damir Skok said.
Damir Hoyka designed the photo seminar in a way that is interesting both to mid-level photographers and to complete amateurs.
“Fotosofia 4 All at the ZOO was created so that the ambassadors who share a love of photography would enjoy it. The project was realized thanks to the photographic enthusiasm of the Ambassadors of Bulgaria and Belgium who enjoy taking photographs, but there are also talented individuals within the group who may not have a lot of theoretical knowledge, but who have a knack for photography,” Hoyka said.
Sea lions, birds, capuchins, camels, wallabies and African lions modelled for Ambassadors’ photos.
The best photos will be exhibited at the ZOO on Saturday, May 20, on the occasion of International Day for Biological Diversity.
