Computing Systems Week, organised by HiPEAC (European Network on High Performance and Embedded Architecture and Compilation), kicked off in Zagreb’s Hotel International earlier today.
Since 2004, the HiPEAC (High Performance and Embedded Architecture and Compilation) project has provided a hub for European researchers in computing systems; today, its network, the biggest of its kind in the world, numbers around 1,500 specialists. The project offers training, mobility support and dissemination and recruitment services, along with numerous networking facilities to its members.
The two-day event will include keynote speech by Matija Gracin, who will talk about how Rimac Automobili went from being a garage hobby project to building the world’s fastest and strongest electric car, while Martin Kersten (Centrum Wiskunde & Informatica) will explore database management systems.

A range of international speakers will present the latest innovations in digital health and advances in high-performance computing (HPC) systems. The industrial session will feature sessions from local enterprises from a number of sectors, including retail, automotive and the internet of things.
‘Inspiring futures! Researchers’ careers’ will try to help early career researchers find their perfect job, while the interactive media skills workshop will help HiPEACers to work with the press to get the word out about their scientific work.
