Local record stores are participating in the global event this Saturday, April 22nd
The International Record Store Day (RSD) that traditionally takes place on the last Saturday in April is celebrating its 10th anniversary this year, reports zagreb.info on April 19th, 2017.
According to the Record Store Day website, the project was initially conceived in 2007 as a way to celebrate the unique culture surrounding the independently owned record stores in the US and internationally. Since the first edition held in 2008, the project kept expanding and it currently has stores participating on every continent except Antarctica.
Powered by the Croatian Discography Association (HDU), attractive music events are being organized in multiple Croatian cities. Following the unwritten rule of RSD, the project is locally represented by two young ambassadors, Croatian musicians Sara Renar and Mia Dimšić. The global ambassador for 2017 is the famous American singer-songwriter St. Vincent.
On Saturday, April 22nd, musicians and bands such as Mangroove, Brain Holidays, Solarov, Producent, Ivana Marić, Lea Mijatović and Sebastian Popović will perform live at Nova ploča and Dancing Bear Music Shop, two record stores in Zagreb. The audience will get a chance to talk to the ambassadors and the performers after the show, as well as acquire new albums that are being released by acclaimed Croatian bands Pavel, Brain Holidays and Mayales.
