“An IPA craft beer-flavoured ice cream has tourists forming lines in Zagreb,” Lonely Planet writes

We have been dying to try beer-flavoured ice cream ever since Orijent pastry shop introduced it back in May, and it looks like we’re not the only ones!

Lonely Planet Travel News piece titled “An IPA craft beer-flavoured ice cream has tourists forming lines in Zagreb” talks about how the famous pastry shop got the idea of making the unusual, but very popular flavour combination. The son of one of the owner’s had heard that a similar ice cream existed in the USA, so the family made a few batches and decided Nova Runda Indian Pale Ale was the best choice. The flavour is described as the perfect combination of sweet and bitter, with a touch of citrus.

Some of the other ice creams Lonely Planet recommends are the black sesame Night’s Watch (yes, from Game of Thrones), green Matcha and Halva, all of which are made using natural ingredients with no powders and additives.

The pastry shop has recently posted a photo of a stout-shaped and stout-flavoured cake that they made for The Garden Brewery’s birthday, so it looks like they use beer for more than just ice cream.
