Mayor Bandić and his associates awarded Medals of the City of Zagreb to outstanding individuals during a ceremony held at Zagreb Fair Conference Hall yesterday, April 27.
The medals were given to city administration employees who have been working for the City for more than 40 years, Zagreb City Market sellers who have been working at markets for more than 50 years, humanitarians – voluntary blood donors, including people who had donated blood more than 200 times, and Rio 2016 Paralympics participants, who won three medals in athletics and two in table tennis.
One of the winners was Nenad Hučić, a Zagreb Holding employee, who prevented an elderly Zagreb lady’s purse being snatched a few months ago.
“I am happy and proud to award the City of Zagreb Medals to the noblest people and true heroes of this city , Mayor Bandić said. When someone has been true to their work and the city for 40 years or has donated blood more than 75 times, the least we can say is thank you,” the mayor added.
Paralympics athlete Sandra Paović thanked the City of Zagreb and Mayor Milan Bandić on behalf of all the winners.
“We would like to thank Mayor Bandić for valuing our work, results and the sacrifices we make,” Sandra said, adding that they will keep working hard and try to be better each day.
