The fifth annual pink wine festival will be held on March 11 at Mimara.
A press conference on Pink Day Zagreb, organized by WOW (Women on Wine) was held yesterday at Mimara Museum. The fifth edition of the festival was announced, together with its first virgin olive oil section, Green in Pink.
WOW president Sanja Muzaferija stated that Rosé is the fastest growing wine in the world, which can be seen from the fact that that their colleagues from Italy, Le Donne del Vino, are organizing a similar event this year, Sorrento Rosé, and will be participating in Pink Day as well.
Ms. Muzaferija asked everyone to join her and other wine enthusiasts and experts at the gala event and workshops, adding that pink is the new black.
About the festival
The pink wine festival will be held on March 11 at Mimara Museum. Members of WOW have been raising funds for the association FB Humanitarci Zagreb (visit their Facebook page here) since February 10 and the Charity Gala Dinner at Hotel Esplanada will mark the end of the charity event on March 10, starting at 8 p.m.
Chef Ana Grgić will be in charge of creating a pink menu, which you will be able to enjoy alongside top quality wines, and to the music of an all-female band The Frajle.
Reservations for the Gala Dinner can be made by telephone at 01 456 664, or by email, to [email protected].
The price is 150 kn per person (100 kn per person if you come in pair), and if you come alone, you get a bottle of wine (quantities are limited).
Part of the proceeds of the dinner also goes to FB Humanitarci association.
There’s still time to help the fundraising as well; you can do so by sending payment to the event-specific IBAN: HR0823600001502019327. Any amount is welcome, but payment of 150 kn and higher also gets you a special Borboleta bracelet.
Pink Day
The opening ceremony will take place on March 11 at 12 p.m., while the B2B event will start at 12:15 at the same place. This is an opportunity for wine experts, restaurant owners and sommeliers to present their work and exchange experiences.
After that, there are going to be three workshops in English. The fee for each wine workshops is 100 kn (50 kn for WOW members) and the olive oil workshop is free.
- 1:30 – 2:30 p.m. Rosé: All Over Europe, by Laure Patry
- 3 – 4 p.m. All About (Olive Oil), by Heinrich Zetner
- 4:30 – 5:30 p.m. Rosé: Croatian Style(s), by Jo Ahearne
The official afterparty will be held at Sherry’s Wines & Bites (Ilica 73), starting at 7:30 p.m. If you come to the afterparty with a pink bracelet, it gets you a discount for food and wine.
Uber, the official partner of Pink Day, will provide free rides home to everyone attending the festival, so you don’t have to worry about how you’re going to get home if you’ve had one too many glasses of rosé.
