The symbol of friendship between the two cities will be circulating Zagreb streets until the end of the year.
An NT 220 low-floor tram featuring emblems of Zagreb and Mainz left Zagreb’s Remiza tram terminal this morning to commemorate 50 years of friendship between the two cities, and it will be on Zagreb streets until the end of the year.
The front and the back of the tram are painted with Zagreb and Mainz emblems, with two cities’ silhouettes joined by a bridge made of puzzles in the central part of the tram, symbolising the ongoing upgrades and extensions of Mainz and Zagreb’s cooperation over the years.
The project was announced in Mainz in May, when Zagreb Deputy Mayor Ms Olivera Majić met with Mainz Mayor Mr Michael Ebling.
Mayor Ebling said that trams painted with both emblems on the streets of Zagreb would be a great idea to make people acquainted with the special anniversary that is celebrated this year.
A project featuring three exhibitions was on display in Mainz in June, comprising exhibitions called “Od Budinjaka prema Mainzu” (From Budinjak to Mainz), “Three Stories – Greetings from Zagreb,” and “Od Gutenberga do 3D ispisa od biomaterijala” (From Gutenberg to Biomaterial in 3D Printing). In addition, a delegation from Mainz should visit Zagreb in October.
