Did you know that Zagreb has a space-themed hostel?
Zagreb’s hostel scene has certainly seen its fair share of great urban new hostels, like Swanky, Chillout, or Taban, which have become not only spots for tourists but also great places to go out for locals. However, the themed hostels and hotels trend didn’t seem to catch on in Zagreb.
Prison-like hostel in Slovenia, the Library Hotel in New York, or a panda-themed hotel in China, are just some of the (least) quirky one I can think of, so it seemed that Zagreb would keep up (I for one would love to stay at a Black Queen themed hostel in Medvednica, you know?), but, until an innovative new hostel opened up last year, this hasn’t really been the case.

That’s where Subspace Hostel comes in – the first themed hostel in Zagreb, one that combines space and art, where you don’t sleep in rooms, but in capsules.
All of them have LCD Android monitors that are connected to the 100 Mbps optical network, to the ventilation, a higher level of lights, a mirror for putting on makeup, and a safe for your documents and valuables. The hostel’s bathrooms are also unique – they have been designed as regeneration modules.

If you’re an SF lover, you’ll recognise them as cryogenic chambers for resting, but even if you’re not, you will fall in love with this completely new experience.
The walls and ceilings have been painted by Tomislav Buntak, so you’ll feel like you’re stargazing while lying in your comfy pod and you’ll be passing through a genuine piece of art while walking around a hostel.

Even better – the hostel is located in the centre of the city, and it has a 9.4 rating on Booking.com, so what are you waiting for – stop by Ulica Nikole Tesle 12/1 and get lost in space.
