15 Years of Following Debutants
Zagreb Film Festival has been trying to present and promote new films and authors since the very beginning, giving a chance to now famous filmmakers, including Steve McQueen. Cristi Puiu, Radu Jude, Xavier Dolan, Andrej Zvjagincev, Taika Waititi, Jeff Nichols, and others, and the Kockice (Checkers) competition programme has included and presented a number of new Croatian filmmakers to the audience.

The Golden Bicycle Award
A new award, introduced at ZFF #14, is given to the best film in the Ponovno s nama (Together Again) programme. The programme includes new films by authors whose films had been shown at previous Festivals and who have grown up with ZFF in a way.

Popular Extra Programme
Moj prvi film (My First Film) by Nenad Polimac brings new films by most important world directors, Velikih 5 (The Great Five) traditionally brings the best of from the UK, Germany, France, Italy and Spain, and Bibijada and PLUS are dedicated to young film lovers.

Regional cooperation has always been important to ZFF organisers, so this year, it’s Montenegro’s turn to shine: to celebrate establishing the country’s film centre in Podgorica, films such as Igla ispod praga (The Black Pin) by Ivan Marinović, SOA by Dušan Kasalica, Ispod mosta, među stijenama (Lowdown) by Pavle Simonović and The Books of Knjige: Slučajevi pravde by Zoran Marković will be screened.

In addition to regional cooperation, LUX Film Days will also be part of this year’s edition of ZFF. LUX Film Days takes place in more than 40 EU cities in autumn, when three films will be screen simultaneously in the EU, with subtitles in all official languages.
This year, the films include Western by Valeska Grisebach, 120 Beats per Minute by Robin Campillo and Sami Blood by Amanda Kernell.

The Industry
The Industry Programme will present a series of workshops, lectures and panels for professionals, young filmmakers and everyone interested in different aspect of film production.
