Starting in the middle of September, there will be 2 specially equipped helicopters available for locals and tourist in case of a need for an emergency transfer from islands and remote areas to the closest hospital.
One based on Brač island and the other one on Krk island, financed by the World Bank, this 8,5 million worth pilot-project should ensure quality and accessibility of medical care in remote areas and will last for 4 months.
As an addition to the current military helicopter based in Divulje (which will also continue its services), the medical helicopter will provide higher standard in medical care with all needed technical equipment.and medical staff on board.
According to Dalmacija News, due to higher EU standards, there will be Italian pilots operating the helicopter as there are no Croatian pilots with the needed qualification and experience at the moment. However, the medical crew will be made out of locals- highly experienced professionals in emergency medicine.
Good luck to all of them helping people and saving lives!!
