First Hvar Wine and Now Hvar Beer: Vunetovo Available in Zagreb

Total Croatia News

Updated on:

We have written extensively about the growing success of Hvar’s wines over the last few years, and with good reason. The Hvar Wine Association has made great strides internationally, as well as considerably improving wine tourism on the island.

But there is another – much smaller – alcohol producer on the island, who is achieving great things with her own beer. Indeed Polish Hvarophile Anna Tuszynska and her Vunetovo became the first Hvar beer to win an award in Zagreb a while back, and now the Croatian capital is the latest place where you can sample Anna’s excellent and flavoursome beers. Our friends at Taste of Croatia endorsed Anna’s brews as follows:

Great news for all you beer lovers out there. The very surprising and actually excellent craft beer from the island of Hvar Vunetovo Beer is available in Zagreb, atCraft Room and Tolkien’s House. Grab it while you can. Hvarska medicina, ale with Mediterranean herbs, is a unique little wonder. Živjeli!

Here was my first visit to Vunetovo, right next to Hotel Podstine in Hvar Town (and if you are staying at the hotel, you really have no excuse not to pop in…). A wonderful experience, and one of our five secret tips for the island for a blog I wrote for Chasing the Donkey.

Congratulations Anna, and I look forward to comparing your wheat beers with these ones in Munich when I come home later this month. Follow the Vunetovo adventure on Facebook
