People were standing in front of the catamaran, waiting to get on board and only a few was given an information (in Croatian) about the problems 10 minutes before the scheduled departure.
The author of the photo Mr. Mirko Butorović writes in his comment: “Nobody told them, there is an alternative – the ferry Marjan (visible on the photo) that was leaving at 17:00 for Stari Grad.
We tried to tell people, but they did not believe us and stayed in those 40 degrees waiting for the catamaran to be fixed. We managed only to convince a few people and dragged them those 50 m to the ferry, so they don´t have to be waiting in that burning sun. There was no official statement from the authorities, no replacement for the catamaran.”
Well, for all of you, who are planning to come to Hvar by catamaran, if you are not asked to board at least 20 minutes before the catamaran is scheduled to depart and you are still waiting outside, be suspicious and ask why is it the case. Even better yet, go back to the Jadrolinija sales point and ask there, there is almost always an alternative, mostly the ferry line to Stari Grad (there is a bus leaving for Hvar town after the ferry arrives).
