Authentic, traditional Hvar as its very best.
And if you are on the island today and tomorrow, I encourage you to check out one of the true treasures of Dalmatia, the abandoned shepherd’s village of Humac, which for the next two days will come alive with the second Etno Hvar Festival, bringing together some of the finest traditions and most interesting characters on the island. And while there are many fabulous things to say, and call me biased, an undoubtedly highlight will be the performance of the Vasko Atanosuvski Trio with our very own Klapa Frecija. Never heard klapa meet jazz – this is a truly fantastic experience. Here is a quick taster from last year’s Jazzelsa:
Some official info from the event page:
8.-9. July 2016.
In the beautiful village of Humac, on one of the highest points on Hvar, this year’s festival offers a rich programme of culture, gastronomy and music.
EHF is part of “KUL TURA po otoku” collaborative central Dalmatian island project that promote rural island areas.
The festival takes place over two days and two nights. The main event will be the Vasko Atanosuvski Trio. They will be joined on stage by Jelsa Klapa Frecija. This follows last year’s successful collaboration at Jazzelsa Festival. Offering visitors a unique musical experience combining traditional Dalmatian music with the sound of oriental, jazz, gypsy etc.
New for this year are more venues staging many different themed events. These include: Kino Mediteran, Živa rič, Slow food Dubrovnik and Kinookus. Also an exhibition of paintings by Vuk Jevremović, Ethno collection and HOP (Croatian island products).
Join us in day & night walk through Humac and experience the past, present and future cultural life of the island of Hvar.
All are welcome!
