Want to experience Hvar as you have never seen it?
Forget those lazy days at the beach and long summer swims, New Year on Hvar has a completely different feel, a much more intimate time with the locals that will live long in the memory. And while the water may not be quite as inviting as in mid-July, a new tradition of going for a New Year’s Day swim will get you reacquainted with the Adriatic, but you will probably not stay in quite as long as in summer…
It is quite a novelty seeing Hvar Town’s fabled main square, the largest square in all Dalmatia, with its own Christmas tree and lights. The decorations around the town are tastefully done, and there have been efforts in recent years to make Christmas and New Year an inviting time to visit. Christmas stalls have appeared, as well as a full entertainment programme to see out the old year and welcome the new, and if you are looking for a New Year with a difference, join the increasing number of tourists who are checking out the Hvar New Year experience.
A key part of the growth of the Hvar New Year phenomenon has been the support of leading hotel group Suncani Hvar Hotels, who not only have a hotel open over the festive period, but also put on a special New Year package for guests. This year Hotel Adriana will play host to Hvar’s visitors. The island’s leading hotel, with its award-winning wellness facilities and fabulous central location, will be offering a special 4-star package, complete with sumptuous breakfast and access to the indoor pool, gym and sauna, as well as (for an additional cost) a splendid New Year gala dinner at the Butchery and Wine restaurant on the ground floor.
Full details of the New Year programme have yet to be announced, but there will be plenty going on, and the headline band for the New Year’s concert will be Parni Valjak – check them out in the video below.
