2016 is turning into an historic year of recognition.
After just 13 years of living here full-time, I finally fulfilled my last ambition in life, to be invited to sit on The Bench, the most local piece of real estate in any Dalmatian town.
But 13 years is a short time in Jelsa years, even if you are the island’s only superhero, for according to the Jelsa Tourist Board, Jelsa’s very own superhero Lavanderman will celebrate his 66th birthday. If he is really 66, then he looks VERY well for his age, probably due to a healthy lavender lifestyle, as well as being surrounded by beautiful international women a third of his age. As part of this year’s expanded Festa Vina celebrations, Lavanderman’s birthday will be officially celebrated tomorrow, the first time our very own superhero has been celebrated in this way.

The Days of Boris Buncuga will begin tonight with the promotion of comic “DOGODOVŠTINE BAROKNOG ČOVJEKA” by Vinko Barić in the wonderful Dalmacijaland gallery in Jelsa’s old town (20.30) followed by a concert by NAPORNO SUICIDE at Labyrintu (ex škver) from 22:00.
And then tomorrow, the birthday itself, in the words of the Jelsa Tourist Board:
On the occasion of the birthday of Boris Bunčuga – Lavanderman, we invite you to join us for the concert of the Sunny Siders band at the Jelsa Main Square on Wednesday, August 24, 2016.
