This year’s 3rd edition of “Jelsa od versa”, one of the finest festivals of klapa music, will take place at the main square in Jelsa (Hrvatski Narodni Preporod Square, locally known as Pjaca) on July 4th, 2017 beginning at 9 P.M., reports Dalmacija Danas.
The festival, which is already very popular and recognized among the fans of klapa music, aims to present the tradition of klapa singing to tourists and attract even more guests with the great list of performers this year.
“Jelsa od versa” will see many klapa groups competing for the winning title by performing two songs; one of which should be the original klapa song from the island of Hvar or an original song from the author originating from Hvar. This way, the importance of preserving the Hvar tradition of klapa music is promoted.
The following klapa groups will perform at the festival:
DALMATINKE – female klapa from Split
KALELARGA – male klapa from Zadar
KANELA – female klapa from Blato
KUNTENAT – male klapa from Korčula
