A nice recognition of the national position of Suncani Hvar’s Hotel Adriana in the luxury hotel market yesterday, as the island’s top hotel was included in an illustrious list of just 16 luxury hotels for a new brand called Stories, Croatian Unique Hotels, which was presented at a press conference in Rovinj by the Croatian Chamber of Economy.
Stories represents hotels that offer authentic experiences through unique heritage or concepts, excellent locations, immaculate design and a highly-personalised service. The hotels are located in city palaces, hidden amidst the rocks above the sea or among olive groves of feudal manors, their luxury interwoven into their foundations and architecture, and each of them has a unique story to tell.
“Currently Stories hotels consist of 16 exceptional, carefully selected hotels, which had to meet strict criteria for entry. Most of our hotels are winners of prestigious international awards, a few of them are members of the world-renowned hotel associations, and two restaurants of our group have been recommended in the Michelin guide. With a new brand and a joint efforts we aim to position Croatia as a destination for special luxury tourism,” said Nenad Nizić from the Croatian Chamber of Economy.

And Hotel Adriana certainly has plenty of stories to tell. Sit on the terrace at Top Bar with a sunset cocktail, for example, and just look at all the stories right there in front of you – the oldest public theatre in Europe, the place where organised touism in Europe began in 1868 (150 years next year – please don’t forget, tourism chiefs…), the largest square in all Dalmatia, CNN’s top naturist beach in the world, the birthplace of Ivan Vucetic, the pioneer of fingerprinting.
So many stories within touching distance, and look a little further and hear the stories of the island with the most UNESCO heritage in the world. All under cloudless skies, for yes, this is also the sunniest island in Europe.
