I have had many surprises over the years in the restaurant of Hvar. Some of them food-related, some of them due to the bahviour of other guests, but nothing quite like this young man at Me and mrs Jones in Jelsa last summer.
Young Dario had always been a pleasant young man behind the bar at the restaurant, coordinating operations with quiet efficiency, a very nice young man and an excellent worker. One evening, there was a birthday party of 40 people from Australia, a special event which had been planned for weeks. After the main food had been served, I was a little surprised to see Dario coming out and preparing to sing.
I was even more surprised at the quailty of his voice, one of the finest baritones I had ever heard. So well did he sing, that he brought tears to several eyes around the table.
