Total Croatia News

Last night´s concert at the full Reception Hall of the Municipal House ended the celebrations of the Homeland Thanksgiving Day in Jelsa.

The festivities started on Friday with the Stari Grad City Orchestra on the Main Square and continued with a wonderful evening of jazz and swing with Ervin Baučić and The Players.

“We are very grateful to all those men and women, who defended this country, so the rest of us can stand here today and live in a free country”, said the mayor Nikša Peronja and invited everyone to what was a highlight of the evening for many – a firework show at the harbour. A wonderful start of the 3-day long celebrations of the Homeland Thanksgiving Day in Jelsa.

Saturday was reserved for Mila Elegović and her Cabaret Show and even the weather was playing along (the rain stopped just a few minutes before the concert), so Jelsa was able to enjoy another amazing musical evening at the Main Square prepared by the Jelsa Tourist Board.

The last event of the 3-day long festivities took place on Sunday at the Reception Hall of the Jelsa Municipal House. A concert of soloists prepared by Slavko Reljić filled the Reception Hall up to the last seat. Jure Lubina, Stipe Božiković, Ana Huljić, Žaklina Števkovska Drnasin, Radek Brodarec, Maja Blagdan and the Kid´s Choir “Slavuji” performed and enjoyed a well-deserved long-lasting applause.

“We are very pleased that the celebration of the Homeland Thanksgiving Day was well received by everyone and are already looking forward to this weekend, when the Jelsa Town Day celebrations and the Feast of the Assumption of Mary awaits for us”, said Ivo Duboković , the Director of the Jelsa Tourist Board.

It seems, Jelsa is full of interesting events this year, follow the Jelsa tourist board on Facebook and even better, visit Jelsa this summer.
