It is a funny thing, living next to a hotel, at least for me.
You know of its existence, but you have no need of its main service – accommodation – because you live next door. And so you don’t go in.
Having lived 100m from Hotel Fontana in Jelsa for almost 13 years, I can’t remember ever going inside. To me, it was a superbly located hotel with as much sun as we were fortunate to get down the road, a hotel of two-star category.
And so when someone told me that there had been some renovations, and that there were some four-star deluxe apartments at the Fontana Resort, I was intrigued. Not only does Jelsa need more high quality accommodation, but these were positioned on the sunny side in glorious pine forest, just a stone’s throw from the beach.

The apartments come in three sizes, starting with the Deluxe 2-Bedroom Apartments:
Sea side apartments for up to 6 person (4+2), with its completely new built and luxury 71m² are an ideal place for your family vacation. All feature open spaced fully equipped kitchen (microwave, coffee maker, fridge) with dining area and living area with a sofa bed which can be spread out. Spacious loggia with seating and lounge chairs and a modern bathroom with an extra toilet are making the great 2 bedroom apartment complete.
Followed by the Deluxe 1-Bedroom Apartments:
Sea side apartments for up to 4 person (2+2), with its completely new built and luxury 68m² feature fully equipped kitchen (microwave, coffee maker, dishwasher, oven, fridge) with dining room, spacious loggia with seating and a modern bathroom (bathtub and shower) and an extra toilet. Living room with a sofa bed which can be spread out, it has a satellite TV with a DVD player and is a perfect place for the family gathering after a long summer day spent in the sun.
And lastly, Deluxe Studio Apartments:
Sea side apartments for up to 2 persons, with its completely new built, air-conditioned and luxury 37 m² feature fully equipped kitchen (microwave, coffee maker, fridge) with dining area, spacious loggia, direct phone line, satellite TV with DVD player and a modern bathroom with shower.
An important aspect of the luxury apartments is the location. Just one minute from the beach in front of the hotel, a walk of just a few minutes to the left will give you access to some idyllic little coves on the road to Vrboska, while a five minute walk to the right will have you in the centre of Jelsa and its timeless square, where the morning cappuccino and strudel will have you lingering for an hour or more. The closest restaurants in Jelsa are just two minutes away on foot.
The air-conditioned apartments, with Wi-Fi available, also come with generous terrace space, allowing families to relax after a hard day at the beach and take in the wonderful surrounding nature.
Of course, being affiliated with a hotel comes with certain benefits…
