Although I don’t really follow local politics (am not sure I could name the parties of all Hvar’s mayors for example), there seems to be a wind of change on the island, with each town replacing their mayor in the recent elections.
With tourism so important in Hvar Town in particular, the views of new mayor Rino Budrović Bene are keenly sought, and a major interview with the new mayor appeared in national newspaper Jutarnji List today. Entitled “Partygoers are not our only guests, after midnight the speakers must be turned off”, the interview is broad-ranging, from the party scene, housing, relations with Sunčani Hvar and plans for the oldest theatre in Europe. Read it here (Google Translate is your friend for non-Croatian speakers).
