Taking the Ferry in 1969 – Would you Dare?

Total Croatia News

I hear people complaining about the ferries.

I mean, I am not a regular at Jadrolinija, so those full 2 hours with the Jadran few days ago is something I can handle given, that I travel so little. But all those people having to commute, students, people in need for medical services.., all of them, who have to be there at 5 am, in wind and rain – they find those two hours with the replacement of the Tin Ujevic (aka Tin Can) really hard. Not that it would be that much better with Tin Ujevic, but at least it will bring you to Split in less than 2 hours..

I always find it interesting to talk to people about the life on the island in those “good old days”. How long did it take with the ferry 30 years ago, or 40, or 50? Was it actually less than with the current Jadran ferry, which sometimes needs more than 2 hours to reach its destination? I recall, it was 2,5 hours in the 80s. Not much progress done in those 30 years..

But then again, here is a video shared at the Faros News FB page today. A ferry on its way from Split to Stari Grad in 1969. Strong wind and huge waves. The name of the ferry was Ero, it had a capacity of 20 cars.
