It may be a leading destination for its beaches and nightlife, but the island of Hvar is also becoming increasingly popular as a multi-purpose adventure destination in recent years, largely thanks to the promotional efforts of a group of dedicated locals who formed an agency called Hvar Adventure in 2005.
With an initial five core activities – sailing, kayaking, hiking, rock climbing and cycling – the team from Hvar Adventure used their considerable local knowledge and expertise to take the island’s more adventurous tourists to hidden parts of the island that most locals had never even heard of. Kayaking in secret bays, climbing sheer cliffs for unbeatable views and hiking through territory that few had previously experienced. It was all part of the Hvar Adventure commitment to providing the best activity experience on Hvar with the very highest levels of professionalism and local knowledge.
Over the years, the agency has evolved and is contstantly looking for new additions to their already impressive portfolio. The huge increase in cycling as an activity has been matched by both an expansion cycling tours, as well as the addition of a former member of the Croatian female cycling team, Jelena Gracin, to the Hvar Adventure team. The addition of Jelena’s personal training programmes was complimented by the offer of the quality Pinarello bike range for rental.
Hvar is ideal territory for Ironman training, and it was a logical extension to team up with boutique accommodation Apolon in Stari Grad and one of the top Ironman athletes, Dejan Patrčević, to offer expert programmes where the very best and most dedicated athletes can test and improve their abilities in expert training company.
All this pushing of the Hvar Adventure initial ethos has resulted in an exciting new project, just launched, called Hvar LIfe.
Quite simply, it is Hvar adrenaline, the next generation. Check out the Hvar Life website here.
