Looking to get hitched on Hvar?
Hvar is one of the most romantic places on the planet, and it is no secret that the Hvar wedding industry is booming. With almost guaranteed sun on the sunniest island in Europe, some astonishing historic settings and beauty at every turn, it is no wonder more couples are looking at Croatia’s premier island to tie the knot, especially as the costs compared to the UK are very affordable indeed. And you have a ready-made honeymoon destination on the doorstep, as well as a holiday for all your guests.
We caught up with Tamara from Adriatic Weddings Croatia, one of – if not the – best wedding planner in Croatia, to find out her top places to tie the knot on Hvar. Although I have never been married on Hvar, and I have no plans, the feedback about Adriatic Weddings Croatia has always been exceptional. 1. Bonj Les Bains, Hvar Town (including lead photo)
Our favourite wedding location on Hvar. It is suitable both for the ceremony and the reception, is able to accommodate all sizes of wedding parties, and it is located within the biggest hotel in Hvar Town, offering ultimate flexibility for all. And the setting is sensational.
2. San Marco Terrace, Hvar Town
Available for receptions only, the San Marco terrace on the edge of Hvar Town’s fabled main square is a magnificent setting overlooking the Hvar waterfront and Pakleni islands, part of the hotel which historically is where organised tourism in Europe began in 1868. Most suitable for larger groups, from 60 and above.
3. Hotel Park, Hvar Town
Sometimes the wedding experience is a little more intimate, which makes Restaurant Park, the privately-run boutique hotel and restaurant in the centre of Hvar Town, an ideal choice. The hotel is located close to San Marco, above, and offers a more intimate experience, as well as those amazing harbour views, for small to mid-size weddings.
Sv. Marak Church
While some locations have their own wedding licences, it would be a shame not to get married in the historic and romantic Sv. Marak church, in the centre of town. It is a short walk to Park and San Marko, and its courtyard can also function as a cocktail reception.
4. The Spanish Fortress above Hvar Town
If the killer view is top of your list, why not rent one of the iconic views of Croatia? The view of Hvar Town and the Pakleni Islands is one of THE picture postcards of the country, and there can be few more stunning settings in the world. Suitable for bigger groups up to 150 people.
5. Private Villa in Central Hvar
And to finish, something completely different, right in the middle of nowhere, so you can party as long as you want in an astonishing private villa with its own infinity pool on top of the island. No need to ask the neighbours permission here… Suitable for both ceremony and reception, and ideal for small to medium groups.
