Best Wines in the Region on 3rd Dubrovnik FestiWine

Wine and food tastings, gala charity event, exploration of Pelješac wineries, workshops, and presentations all await at this year’s Dubrovnik FestiWine.

The 3rd regional wine festival Dubrovnik FestiWine was officially announced with a press conference on April 25, 2016. The event, which starts tomorrow with first wine tastings and continues on until Sunday, May 1, is organized by the Dubrovnik-Neretva County and the County Development Agency DUNEA with the support of the Dubrovnik PartneR agency.

Organisers have once again prepared a whole string of activities, and as a part of this year’s Dubrovnik FestiWine Festival, visitors will have an opportunity to taste fine wines and be a part of numerous wine workshops together with wine experts and sommeliers.

The main event of the Festival is the wine exhibition that many wine enthusiasts look forward to. It will take place at the newly renovated historical site Lazareti on April 29 and 30. Prior to the Festival’s wine exhibition, a number of interesting events will take place, such as ‘Dubrovnik wine trophy’ wine evaluation, ‘FestiWine gala’ , which will take place in the Dubrovnik Palace hotel on April 28, starting at 8 PM; is an opportunity to sample delicacies prepared by renowned chefs and finest regional wines presented direly by wine producers. This year’s gala evening also has a very noble cause, it is a charity event, and all money raised will go towards scholarships for talented young chefs. As an intro into Dubrovnik FestiWine, numerous Dubrovnik-based restaurants, hotels and wine bars will participate in ‘Dubrovnik Wine Week’. In the period from April 25 to May 1, Dubrovnik Wine Week will offer custom-made menus in combination with local wines from the Dubrovnik-Neretva County. Dubrovnik FestiWine week will end with a fabulous excursion to Pelješac on May 1, where all wineries will open their cellars in order to celebrate the start of yet another season. All participants will be able to taste local wines and, of course, local food, so great fun is guaranteed.
