Days of Open Wine Cellars Started on Pelješac

More than 20 wineries from Pelješac will be presented tomorrow, so if you are a wine connoisseur, this is an event you cannot miss

Winemakers across Pelješac and surrounding areas have opened their wine cellars on December 3, 2015 for the tenth year in a row to enable all wine connoisseurs and wine lovers to taste both young and seasoned wines produced on this peninsula.

The goal of Days of open wine cellars on Pelješac is to present wine making as a tourism product and to attract guests to come to this peninsula in the South of Croatia and explore its wine routes filled with wineries, homesteads, wine cellars, tratorrias….

The first day was dedicated to the round table “The future of eno tourism on Pelješac”, with representatives from various wineries, tourism organizations and Tourist boards from the area. And btw, here’s a tiny tip for the future of wine tourism on Pelješac, aimed mostly at the local tourist boards. Do post a note or two in English, especially about the Days of open wine cellars and who knows; maybe it will help a bit! This is what the Pelješac Tourist Board calendar of events for looks like for this week, hence the tip.

But, back to this great event that does indeed deserve all the promotion it can get. Today, visitors will be able to taste young wines from Pelješac at 13:30 while teams of journalists will compete in making the best brodetto from 16:00 onwards.

Saturday is reserved for the tour of Pelješac wine cellars starting with the opening ceremony at 11. At noon, first round of visits will include PZ Stoviš, Željko Ledinić, Pelješac vino, Rozić Ćurlin, Barović, Vlašić and Bukvić. Next on the agenda are wines from Janjina and Trstenik: PZ Pelješki vrhovi Janjina, and wineries Grgurević, Bezek, Djajić and Kunjašić. Wine stew will be prepared for guests at the Culture centre in Janjina.

Tour continues with Orebić based wineries: Matuško, Madirazza, PZ Dingač, Boris Violić, Miličić, Matković, Žužul, Niko Violić – Jurica, Bartulović, PZ Kuna, PZ Postup and OPG Antunović.
