Out of a total of 111 elementary schools in the capital city, 29 schools have reported that there are no pupils interested in Civic Education as an extracurricular activity.
There are 56 secondary schools in Zagreb, and in 15 of them, there have been no students interested in that extracurricular activity, according to the findings of the survey which were presented to the city council on Wednesday.
When it comes to teaching staff, in 30% of the city’s elementary schools and in 27% of the secondary schools, no teachers are keen to conduct this extracurricular activity.
A total of 3,442 elementary school pupils have shown interest in having Civic Education as an extracurricular activity, which is 31 pupils per school.
Of those 3,442 pupils, 197 are already engaged in this extracurricular activity, and ten schools have already started conducting this activity.
Currently, 11 of city’s secondary school are conducting this extracurricular activity involving 257 students.
