This year, Mali Lošinj will be the host of the 31st edition of Euro-African Spearfishing Championship from 13th to 17th of September
Recreational Fishing Association “Udica” is organising the 31st Euro-African spearfishing championship from September 13 – 17, 2017 in Mali Lošinj, reports Morski.hr on September 4, 2017.
The “Confederación Mondial de Actividades Subacuáticas” CMAS (World underwater activities confederation) has delegated to the “Hrvatski savez za sportski ribolov na moru” HSSRM (Croatian federation of sports fishing on sea), the organization of the “XXXI Euro-African Spearfishing Championship” (The Thirty-first Euro-African Spearfishing Championship), which will take place between the days 13th to 17th of September 2017 in the city of Mali Lošinj.
During the two days of competition (September 15th and 16th), more than 120 participants and visitors from 19 different countries of Europe and Africa are expected to compete in the waters of the island of Lošinj, including the world’s best spear fishermen. This geographic area will be divided into three (3) areas named “Competition areas”, two (2) primary areas where competition will take place, and one (1) reserve area in case the weather conditions make it unsafe for people and boats to operate in the primary areas. These areas will be named Zone A, Zone B and Reserve zone. National teams that will participate in the championship include Croatia, Italy, Greece, Finland, San Marino, Slovenia, Turkey, Ukraine, Algeria, South Africa, Denmark, Spain, Bulgaria, Cyprus, Russia, Tunisia, Egypt, Norway.
Opening Ceremony of the 31st Euro African African Spearfishing Championships in Mali Lošinj will be held on September 14, 2017, at the Republic of Croatia Square at 6 P.M.
During weighing, the audience can participate in the lottery and perhaps take home a prize-winning fish.
