July 18, 2018 – With the World Cup over but the hysteria continuing, 5 very Croatian souvenirs which could prove a marketing hit.
After the glorious World Cup tournament, it is time to update our football souvenir selection for all the fans and tourists. The recognizable checkered jersey needs no further introduction and all checkered clothing items are welcome, but we need some new ideas. Something that will be practical, yet recognizable.
1.Marten- Little cute furry marten dolls dressed in football shirts! Marten is our national animal, the name of the currency, and part of the flag. We need animated movies, comics, cartoons and children books about a group of martens playing in the World cup! They play against bears and lions and never give up. We can add other animals from the flag, goats, and some leopards. It sounds like a fable ready to be told.
2. Croatian Marathon -72 kilometers. That was the distance Ivan Perišić and Luka Modrić ran on this tournament. Philippides would be proud. We can make this race more interesting. People can run in teams. Ivan team can run from Split, and Luka team can run from Zadar. They meet in Šibenik. Then they shoot penalties. The Croatian way.
3.Sweat and tears – We need to go back to the roots. Medival times were thriving from creative marketing, offering miracles for a little bit of gold. We should start selling the magical sweat and tears that cure all illnesses, work as an aphrodisiac and even cure baldness. This mythical balm, used even by Olympian gods, can be gathered only from those sportsmen that play world cup finals. Limited supply!
4. Kolinda hugging pillow – When you feel alone or down. When you think nobody is there for you. When you hate sleeping alone, just need a cuddle, or shivering from rain, worry not!
