ZAGREB, May 28, 2018 – Cest is d’ Best, Croatia’s oldest street festival to be held between May 30 and June 3, will bring together about 700 performers and as many hours of dynamic programmes, concerts, street theatre plays, circus shows, dance, art and sport events and children’s programmes.
The festival’s director Zlatan Jaganjac has announced an “exceptionally interesting” programme to be presented on eight stages in downtown Zagreb – from the main Ban Jelačić Square and Zrinjevac park to Bogovićeva Street and Cvjetni Trg Square.
“We will transform those spots into a global stage with performances by fantastic artists, spreading positive energy and amusing audiences,” Jaganjac told a press conference held at the Italian Cultural Institute as Italy is this year’s partner country to the festival.
Jaganjac said that he found the inspiration for this year’s programme in the life and work of Nikola Tesla and the use of recycled waste in artistic expression.
The director of the Italian Cultural Institute Stefania Del Bravo said that she believed that the 22nd Cest is d’Best would be as successful as the festival held last year, when, she said, she got acquainted with the festival. “The programme is once again very diverse and a lot of performers are coming to turn our attention away from everyday problems,” she added.
The festival will also feature presentations of food from Turkey, India, Indonesia, China, Mexico and Croatia.
Attending the festival will be artists from about twenty countries – Italy, Australia, Argentina, Belgium, Slovenia, Brazil, Croatia, Serbia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Romania, United Kingdom, Hungary, France, Finland, Kosovo, USA, Macedonia, Spain, Venezuela, Japan and, for the first time, South Korea.
All festival programmes are free of charge.
